Local Intensives

These Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings made through Local Intensives, which is a trading name of Amberstone Associates Limited (Company Number: 07158472), registered in England and Wales with its registered office at Unit A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St. Edmunds, England, IP28 7DE.

 

 

 

1. Our Role

 

Local Intensives acts as a booking and administration service, introducing pupils to independent, self-employed DVSA-approved driving instructors.

When you book a course, you enter into a separate agreement with your allocated instructor for the delivery of tuition. We do not directly employ instructors or control their day-to-day teaching methods.

 

 

 

2. Course Booking

 

 

  • A booking is secured upon receipt of a deposit or full payment.

  • You will receive confirmation by email; however, course dates remain provisional until confirmed by your instructor.

  • We recommend that you do not commit to time off work or other arrangements until your schedule is fully confirmed.

 

 

 

 

3. Cooling-Off Period

 

 

  • You have the right to cancel within 14 days of booking.

  • If you request that work begins within this period (e.g. instructor allocation or scheduling), you agree that your cancellation rights may end once services have started.

 

 

 

 

4. Cancellations & Refunds

 

After the cooling-off period:

 

  • Refunds are considered on a pro-rata basis, taking into account:

     

    • Tuition already delivered or allocated

    • Instructor time reserved

    • Any third-party costs (e.g. apps, tests)

    • Administrative costs

     

  • Cancellations with short notice (e.g. under 20 working days) may result in limited or no refund due to instructor time being reserved.

  • Illness or exceptional circumstances may be considered at our discretion, and supporting evidence may be required.

 

 

 

 

5. Course Changes

 

 

  • Requests to change course dates are subject to instructor availability.

  • If changes cannot be accommodated, the original booking remains in place.

  • Choosing not to proceed may be treated as a cancellation.

 

 

 

 

6. Changes by Us

 

In rare situations (e.g. instructor illness or scheduling issues), we may need to adjust your course:

 

  • We will offer an alternative where possible

  • If no suitable option is available, a refund or partial refund may be considered

  • We are not liable for any additional costs or losses resulting from changes

 

 

 

 

7. Practical Test & Readiness

 

 

  • Practical test availability is controlled entirely by the DVSA

  • We cannot guarantee specific dates or timeframes

  • Your instructor will advise when you are test-ready

  • For safety reasons, you may not be permitted to take a test if not at the required standard

 

 

 

 

8. Practical Test Support

 

We can offer guidance when it comes to finding a practical test, helping you understand availability and how to secure a suitable date. While test slots are controlled by the DVSA and availability can vary, our team can provide advice and support to improve your chances of finding a convenient appointment at the right stage in your training.

 

 

 

9. Theory Test Support

 

We aim to make the theory test process as straightforward as possible by providing guidance on booking and preparation. You may also receive access to a recommended theory test app and online resources to support your revision. These tools are designed to help you prepare effectively, but passing the theory test remains your responsibility.

 

 

 

10. Free Corrective Lessons

 

We are committed to helping you reach test standard, not just completing a set number of hours. If you are unsuccessful on your practical test, we may offer additional corrective lessons focused on the areas highlighted by the examiner.

These sessions are designed to target any faults identified on your test report, helping you improve and move forward with confidence.

Corrective lessons are offered at our discretion and are based on individual circumstances, progress, and availability.

 

 

 

11. Payments

 

 

  • Payments secure dedicated instructor time, which is limited and reserved specifically for you

  • Additional lessons outside your course may be arranged directly with your instructor

 

 

 

 

12. Liability

 

Local Intensives is not liable for:

 

  • Test delays caused by DVSA availability

  • Instructor availability outside our control

  • Any indirect or consequential losses

 

 

 

 

13. VAT

 

VAT is applied where applicable based on our business structure. Where operating under an agency model, VAT may apply only to the commission element retained rather than the full course fee.

 

 

 

14. Legal

 

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be handled within this jurisdiction.
